Diaz to Lead Research for Maui County Data Book: Maui Now

The Hawaiʻi Small Business Development Center announces the appointment of Patricia Diaz as the Specialty Center Research Associate, effective October 3, 2022.

Previously an administrative assistant at the Maui Center since March 1998, Pat will officially assume the role of Research Associate for the Hawaiʻi Business Research Library (Specialty Center) after serving as Acting Research Librarian for the past year.

“Pat has always been focused on providing our clients with credible and objective business and industry research to help them make informed, strategic decisions,” says Maui Center Director Wayne Wong, “which is why this decision only re-emphasizes what a valuable economic development resource Pat is to the Hawaii business community.


The Specialty Center Research Associate is the principal researcher and publisher of the annual Maui County Data Book, the definitive statistical resource on Maui County, including the islands of Maui, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, and Kahoʻolawe. Its tables and statistics present a wide range of valuable information on demographics and economic activity. The facts and statistics in the book are essential tools for preparing a grant, a business plan, or deciding where to start a business.

HiSBDC’s mission is to foster Hawaii’s economic sustainability by helping businesses form, grow and thrive. We are a University of Hawaii at Hilo program funded in part by a cooperative agreement with the US Small Business Administration.
