Growing a creative small business is a lot like growing daffodils. Artists and creatives meet many challenges by sacrificing time and money during the onset of winter. Just when you think the challenges will never end, Pop! It results in a moment of clarity and success like a daffodil to encourage you to move forward. The Big Bad Business Series workshops provide a networking and learning environment where any small business, but especially those focused on the arts or the creative economy, can tackle these tough challenges.
Kicking off the 2022 series will be a Lean Canvas Business Plan Workshop. Not every business is ready to write a traditional and sometimes lengthy business plan. A business plan is a crucial tool for ensuring that a small business stays on a mission and that every step taken will support those goals. Check out the Lean Canvas Business Plan – a perfect choice for small businesses in the creative economy and other startups that don’t need a full business plan right away.
This workshop includes:
- 1h of video on the Lean Canvas
- Template and examples to complete your own Lean Canvas business plan
- Powerpoint to help you navigate the model
- Optional group session to walk through the model on February 17 at 5 p.m.
- Virtual Zoom meeting with Gordon Magee of SCORE
Prior to the February 21 meeting, participants will watch the video and work on a draft of their Lean Canvas plan using Powerpoint. Then ask your questions to our expert during the Zoom session. By completing the session prerequisites and attending the Zoom session, participants will qualify for one-on-one mentorship tied to their Lean Canvas business plan by qualified SCORE mentors. Registration for this workshop closes at 5 p.m. on February 18.
You might not need to walk into a bank and apply for a loan to buy real estate or equipment, but everyone needs to master their mission, their vision, and this is the perfect opportunity to refine these ideas. Get a moment of clarity, that first daffodil before spring, by learning about this tool for your small business.
