WDOC’s First-Ever Female Warden of Wyoming State Penitentiary


(Cheyenne, WY) – On December 9, the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) announced the promotion of Assistant Warden of Wyoming, Neicole Molden, to Warden of the State Penitentiary of Wyoming, effective December 17, 2021.

Warden Molden was hired by WDOC in 2009 as Unit Manager Supervisor, where she also served as Deputy Warden, and most recently served as Deputy Warden at Wyoming State Penitentiary.

In total, Director Molden has more than 28 years in the field of criminal justice.

Warden Molden holds a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Director Shannon said that “Director Molden has extensive experience in field services and prison operations, which makes her a highly qualified employee, and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to promote her to this position. leadership criticism within the department ”.
