Zurich North America has announced the appointment of a new head of life sciences for its US mid-market business unit.
Linda Schultz has been appointed to this post. She will join the Industry Practices leadership team and report to John Mizzi, Head of Industry Practices, US Mid-Market. In his new role, Schultz will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to develop a specialization in the life sciences industry and underwriting expertise for several sub-segments, including including medical device manufacturers and suppliers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, research and development laboratories and clinical trial administrators. .
“Linda has extensive leadership experience in the life sciences and is a recognized expert in the insurance industry,” said Mizzi. “I am delighted to add him to the Industry Practices team. She will be a valuable thought leader as we continue to expand our buying appetite for the mid-market. “

Life sciences is a $ 4 billion insurance segment and continues to grow rapidly, Zurich said. Zurich will start accepting bids for life science business in early 2022.
Prior to joining Zurich, Schultz was Head of US Life Sciences Product Responsibility at The Hartford. In this role, she successfully integrated the Navigators Life Sciences team, which she previously led, with The Hartford’s Life Sciences Division. She has also held positions at OneBeacon, Hilb Rogal & Hobbs, Chubb and Travelers.
